Story 01

Coupa Card Reaches $50 Million in Cumulative Spend

Coupa said its Mastercard-powered virtual card reached approximately $50 million in cumulative spend since launching in November 2025, while monthly users increased sixfold over six months. Separately, Coupa Pay recorded 58% year-over-year transaction growth in the first half of fiscal 2027. The card embeds payments within enterprise procurement workflows, connecting purchasing decisions with accounts-payable execution. The cumulative spend figure does not establish annual payment volume or disclose how much spending moved from other payment methods; supplier acceptance and repeat usage will help procurement teams assess adoption.

Fiserv Targets $1 Billion Savings and Plans Legacy Gateway Consolidation

Fiserv disclosed a $6.45 billion goodwill impairment, doubled its cost-savings target to $1 billion and reported reductions of 3,000 employee and contractor positions. Merchant Solutions revenue fell 2% despite approximately 10% growth in Clover payment volume, separating the segment's revenue performance from Clover's transaction growth. Fiserv also plans to consolidate more than a dozen legacy gateways and switches. Bank and merchant customers using those platforms need product-retirement schedules, migration requirements and service-level commitments to plan integration work.

Block Extends Cash App Rewards to Approximately 30,000 Square Sellers

Approximately 30,000 Square sellers had Block's Neighborhoods rewards program enabled by September, representing about $5 billion in annualized payment volume. The program connects participating merchants with Cash App customers, while Block currently funds sign-up bonuses and ongoing rewards; merchant co-funding remains a possible future development. Square processed $76.4 billion in third-quarter payments, up 14%, and Cash App reached 60 million monthly transacting users in September. For participating merchants, incremental sales and repeat visits distinguish customer acquisition results from enrollment counts.

Toast Disputes FTC Billing Lawsuit as Its Location Count Reaches 189,000

Toast disputed the FTC and state authorities' lawsuit alleging unauthorized charges, misleading pricing and cancellation obstacles. Management argued that the Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act does not apply to negotiated B2B agreements; that argument represents Toast's legal position, not a court finding. Separately, Toast reported approximately 8,500 net location additions, bringing its total to 189,000. Customer growth does not resolve the billing allegations. The case concerns charge authorization, pricing disclosures and cancellation processes for merchant software vendors using recurring-service contracts.

OppFi Withdraws Applications for $130 Million BNC Acquisition

OppFi withdrew applications to the OCC, Federal Reserve Board and FDIC for its proposed $130 million acquisition of BNCCORP and BNC National Bank. The transaction would have combined OppFi's digital lending platform with ownership of a national bank. Withdrawing the applications interrupts that plan but does not establish that regulators formally rejected the acquisition. Formal termination or restructuring would clarify the transaction's status, while OppFi's subsequent funding arrangements would show how it finances lending without the proposed bank ownership.
